ATS Panel Method of Statement

1. Purpose

This method statement outlines the procedure for installation of the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Panel to ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards and project specifications. It includes the tools and materials required, quality control measures, safety precautions, inspection & testing procedures, and documentation for final acceptance.


2. Scope of Work

  • Delivery and handling of ATS Panel.
  • Mounting and installation of ATS Panel.
  • Termination of incoming/outgoing cables.
  • Electrical testing and commissioning.
  • Final inspection and documentation.

3. References

4. Responsibilities

  • Project Engineer: Supervise installation, ensure compliance with standards.
  • Electricians: Perform physical installation and wiring.
  • QA/QC Engineer: Conduct inspections and testing as per ITP.
  • HSE Officer: Monitor safety compliance and risk controls.

5. Tools and Equipment

6. Materials Required

7. Installation Procedure

7.1 Pre-Installation

  • Verify ATS panel specifications with approved drawings.
  • Check panel for physical damages and compliance with delivery documents.
  • Ensure the area is clean and ready for installation.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox talk.

7.2 Mounting of ATS Panel

  • Position the ATS panel on the floor/wall-mounted support.
  • Use anti-vibration pads if required.
  • Ensure panel is level using a spirit level.
  • Securely fasten panel using anchor bolts.

7.3 Cable Termination

  • Route power and control cables as per layout.
  • Strip and terminate cables using appropriate lugs.
  • Ensure torque tightening as per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Properly label all cables and terminals.

7.4 Earthing & Bonding

  • Connect earth bar of ATS panel to the main earth grid.
  • Ensure all metallic enclosures and doors are bonded.

7.5 Pre-Commissioning Checks

  • Visual inspection for wiring and labeling.
  • Check phase sequence and insulation resistance.
  • Verify mechanical interlocks and manual transfer operations.

9. Quality Control Checklist

  • ATS panel is damage-free and approved.
  • Installation is as per approved drawings.
  • Panel is securely fixed and level.
  • All cables are terminated correctly and labeled.
  • Earth continuity verified.
  • Insulation resistance test passed.
  • Functional test completed (manual & automatic mode).
  • Documentation signed and recorded.
